Groves police say one of their own was hurt in a collision Monday night. A police spokesperson says the driver that caused the accident was intoxicated.
It happened shortly after 9 p.m. on 25th Street. Investigators say a woman, 35, of Port Arthur, drove her Chrysler Sebring directly into the back of the moving police car. The officer said the woman drove off following the collision.
Officers stopped her car a few blocks away and arrested her.
She was charged with driving while intoxicated, evading detention in a motor vehicle and failure to stop and render aid.
She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. Her name has not been released pending her arraignment.
The officer, who has also not been identified, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.
