School may not start for about another month but the back-to-school shopping has already begun.
Many Southeast Texas families are heading to Goodwill relying on the low prices to get their student ready for class. But shelves that should be full by now of backpacks and school supplies are almost empty.
Goodwill employees say they have noticed a decrease in donations lately and school necessities are at an all time low.
Shoppers like Martha Stone say now is the time to shop for school because what little they have on the shelves now is going fast.
"We're kind of on a tight budget my husband and I both work and it takes everything we've got to take care of things and it helps a lot to be able to come to goodwill," said Stone. "When you have school uniforms, khaki bottoms things like that, it helps a lot to be able to get it on a discount price not to have to buy it new."
Items the store is lacking include backpacks, school supplies, children's shoes and school uniforms.
If you head into any local Goodwill and donate a backpack from now until August 30 you will get a 10 percent off shopping pass.
