As you get your students geared up to head back to class, school supply expenses can start to rack up.
Eight Goodwill stores across southeast Texas are making sure a few lucky students head back to class in style.
Each Goodwill location will giveaway five backpacks filled with classroom essentials.
Goodwill shoppers are happy a total of 40 backpacks will be going to area kids who need them most.
"I think it's great! There are children in the community that can't afford to receive new school supplies," said Lumberton resident T.J. Die.
And these new supplies will go to whoever's name is drawn.
For a chance to win a backpack stuffed with supplies all you've got to do is make a purchase, write your name and number on the back of the receipt, stick it in the box and your name is in the drawing.
And Goodwill Industries CEO James Dreiling says the money you spend in goodwill stores creates jobs for the local community.
"Close to 86 percent of everything that we bring in goes back into Goodwill and back to the public," said Dreiling.
Donations to fill the backpacks are still needed and management says those who donate are rewarded with store perks.
"Customers that come in and donate school items they get 10 percent off of every item that they purchase," said Assistant Manager Ami Hall.
School supplies donations can be dropped off at any store and you have until August 12th to register for the giveaway.
The backpack drawing will take place on August 13th.
One backpack will be given away every two hours at each store location and each child that comes in that day to shop will receive some free school supplies as well.
