HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A former pediatric nurse is facing charges for allegedly poisoning her preschool daughter.
Katie Alice Ripstra, 31, is charged with injury to a child. Investigators say Ripstra poisoned her daughter with salt, then brought the child to the hospital where she worked.
According to court documents, the child, now four years old, suffered brain injury caused by high sodium levels. She was in Texas Children's Hospital intensive care for three days.
The child is no longer in Ripstra's custody. Ripstra is free on a $30,000 bond.
