Former BISD superintendent Timothy Chargois gets three months of his salary to exit

12News has learned how much former Beaumont Independent School District superintendent Timothy Chargois' departure has cost the district.

District officials tell us that as part of Chargois' resignation agreement, he received three months of his salary, which comes out to more than $50,000.

Before the state takeover, Chargois had submitted his resignation to be effective October 31, but he ended up rescinding that resignation letter.  At that time, he had been asking for an exit package of almost $245,000.

After the Texas Education Commissioner installed a board of managers to replace the elected board of trustees on July 21, the managers voted for the proposed termination of Chargois.

But a week later, the managers accepted Chargois resignation and authorized the district's lawyer to start negotiations for a separation agreement.
