Former BISD comptroller faces up to 5-year sentence in plea deal to be announced Monday

12News has learned a former Beaumont Independent School District Comptroller will plead guilty to federal charges on Monday.

The attorney for Sharika Allison told 12news his client is pleading guilty to the lesser charge of conspiracy which carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison.

He says prosecutors have agreed to drop fraud charges.

Allison and former B.I.S.D. Director of Finance Devin McCraney are accused of embezzling $4 million from the district.

Mccraney will also plead guilty Monday, but he will plead guilty to committing fraud on programs receiving federal funds.

His attorney says the feds are dropping the conspiracy charge against him.

He could face up to ten years in prison.
