Three Jefferson County appeals court justices will make a decision in the case of a former Beaumont police officer.
Eric Heilman is accused of altering facts and leaving out details from government statements on related to a 2008 drug bust.
He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge, but Heilman wants the plea dismissed.
Oral arguments were heard Thursday in front of a standing-room only crowd, mostly supporting Heilman.
His attorney says the case should be dropped, because the statute of limitations had expired.
Former officer Brad Beaulieu also pleaded guilty, and is seeking the same result as Heilman, but his case will be heard at a later date.
The 9th Court of Appeals is expected to rule within 30 days.
