Thursday morning, the first American Airlines flight from Jack Brooks Regional Airport will take off for Dallas-Fort Worth. The first American Eagle airplane will leave the airport at 10:20 p.m.
Maintenance crews Wednesday afternoon started preparing for a morning ribbon cutting ceremony.
The flights will be a convenience but will they save flyers money in comparison to flying out of Houston?
12News planned flights a week in advance and found that a one passenger two day round trip from Jack Brooks to DFW would cost $126.
The cheapest flight from Houston to DFW would cost $87. Gas costs for the drive and parking fees at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport is about $42. The flight from Houston would cost $3 more at $129.
Ticket prices at Jack Brooks may go up in the coming months, but the airport director says expect American to stay competitive with Houston prices.
