DPS releases more info about fatal accident as loved ones mourn loss of West Brook graduate

A spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety has released the names of those injured in an accident that killed 24-year-old West Brook graduate James Tremont

A Department of Public Safety spokesperson Tuesday said Tremont was the driver of a 2003 GMC Sierra.  Passengers from the Sierra who were injured include Courtney Richard, 23, of Beaumont, who is listed in critical condition at the University of Texas Medical Branch hospital in Galveston.  Andrea Teeter, 19, of Coppell, Texas, is in stable condition at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.  Jacob Roberson, 24, of Beaumont, has been treated and released.  Durwood Forte, 25, has been treated and released.  Brice Guidry, 25, of Nederland, has been treated and released

The other vehicle involved in the accident is a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado.  The driver, identified by the DPS as Reed Rabilais, 20, of Beaumont, has been treated and released.

Tremont's mother, Rochelle Scott, said her son was a giving man who always helped anyone in need.  She said he loved fishing, dancing and going to the beach.

"Love your children, try to teach them right from wrong," said Scott,

"Say prayers for them every time they walk out the door because you don't know when your last time to see them is gonna be."

Tremont's childhood friend, Kelli Smith, says the community is now missing a man who had such a positive impact on so many.

Smith wanted to tell those who didn't know Tremont, "that he was a genuine heart, that he was a good heart, that he loved his family and he loved his friends, that he would give his life for his friends and that he's one of the best hearts you'd ever meet."

Tremont's father says his son was hoping to start classes to become an electrician.

Funeral arraignments are pending but the service will be held at Broussard's Mortuary.
