Deputies now have suspect in Orange County cow shooting case

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office told 12News that deputies now have a suspect in the April 15 shooting of a herd of cows.

On Monday, April 15, 2013, around 8:50 a.m., Orange County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to the 14000 block of Mansfield Ferry Road in south Vidor.  When they arrived, they met with the caretaker of the property who said he found 15 dead cows.  The caretaker said the cattle had been shot sometime during the night.

The deceased cows were females and several of them were small baby calves.

Investigators have located a possible suspect in this case.

The case has been handed over to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Sgt. Chad Hogan with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said the name of the suspect is not being released at this time.
