The three Democratic candidates vying to replace Judge Layne Walker on the 252nd District Court bench squared off Thursday at the monthly meeting of the Press Club of Southeast Texas.
Nathan "Buddy" Reynolds did not offer judgements on the previous administration, but said as judge he would be very different.
Stella Morrison promised to help repair what she called the county judicial system that is the "laughingstock of Texas."
Raquel West argued that she has the qualifications, experience, and "commitment to community" needed for the job.
All three supported the death penalty in cases of capital murder.
The primary is on March 4, but early voting continues through next week.
