Woman arrested in connection to Kera Teel murder investigation released from jail

BEAUMONT - Atayanna Douglas was released from jail shortly before 6:30 Wednesday, according to the jail intake officer.

Back in June, police say  the 17-year-old was arrested for three aggravated robberies believed to be connected to the Kera Teel murder investigation.

Teel was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Sienna Apartment Homes and her infant daughter died shortly after delivery at a hospital.

Beaumont police investigators said  Douglas had "intimate knowledge" of the crime and told them 22-year-old Jared Bias was the shooter, but investigators learned the information was false.

The capital murder charge against Bias was dismissed earlier this month.

There is limited information at this time about why charges were dismissed against Douglas.
We will continue to post updates as they become available.
