Vidor police chief to release more details of fatal shooting

A fatal shooting has occurred at the 100 block of Carla street on South Main street in Vidor. The shooting occurred at approximately 8:20p.m Tuesday according to Chief Rod Carroll with Vidor Police Department.

VIDOR - The people who live in a normally quiet south Vidor neighborhood had their Independence Day holiday marred by the city’s second homicide of 2017.

Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said it happened in the 100 block of Carl Street.  This is off of South Main near Connell Road.  Vidor police and deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the site around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after a 911 caller reported a shooting.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Judge Joy Dubose-Simonton.

Chief Carroll told spoke to 12News shortly after the shooting.  He said officers have detained, “all parties of interest.” As of 7 a.m. a motive for the killing has not been released.

The city’s first homicide of 2017 happened in January.  Landlord James McClelland is accused of shooting tenant Chris Nicolasora on First Street.

12News spoke with Chief Carroll again on Wednesday morning.  He said he expected to release more information before Noon.
