Three of four arrested on gun charges may be charged in Sunday shooting of homeless man

BEAUMONT - Three of four men arrested on weapons and drug charges Sunday afternoon in Beaumont are reported to be involved in the earlier shooting of a homeless man.

Clinton Joseph Johnson, 19, Ernest Charles Jones, 25, Briandon Keith Murphy, 19, and Terry Don Prudhomme, 26, all of Beaumont, have all been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Murphy was also charged with evading detention in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance the release said.

Prudhomme was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a marijuana according to the release.

Aggravated assault charges related to the early Sunday morning shooting of a homeless man are pending against three of the four men though police would not yet say which three.

The homeless man \was shot in the foot in the 1000 block of McFaddin Street.

An officer attempted to pull over a white Chevy Avalanche Sunday at about 4:30 p.m. in the area of Cleveland and Primrose for a traffic violation but the driver sped up and attempted to flee according to the release. 

Before officer were able to stop the SUV in the 2100 block of Earl Street a gun had been thrown form the SUV.

Once the SUV was stopped officers found shell casings and drugs inside.

All four of the men were then taken to the Beaumont Police Station were some of them were cooperative with detectives according to the release.
