BEAUMONT - A Houston man has been identified as the murder victim whose remains were found in a field in December.
The remains of George Arlin Beers, 60, of Houston, were identified after the remains were sent to the University of North Texas where the remains were identified through a DNA profile according to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
A rancher discovered Beers' remains on his property near the Jeffferson and Chambers County line while repairing a fence on December 10, 2016, according to the release.
The remains were wrapped in material and a pink pair of reading glasses were also found at the scene according to the release.
A missing persons report for Beers, who was last seen on July 3, 2014 near the 610 Loop and Bellaire in Houston, was filed by his family in September, 2014,
Detectives with the sheriff's office are working with investigators from the houston Police Department to solve the case.
