Port Arthur man admits to killing his brother

PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur police say a Port Arthur man has confessed to shooting and killing his brother Thursday morning.

Police say Isaiah Onasso Jacobs, 28, admitted to shooting his brother, Ronnie Wayne Jacobs, 34, on Joe Louis Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. He claims it was self defense because Ronnie Jacobs was trying to attack him.

First responders who arrived on the scene of what was reported as an accident Thursday morning quickly found out it was much more than a collision. Arriving officers found a shooting victim inside a vehicle with Alaskan license plates. The car had been reported stolen the night before. Police are not releasing any other information.

Isaiah Jacob's has been transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He will be arraigned tomorrow morning on murder charges.

Port Arthur Police Department spokesperson Risa Carpenter said Ronnie Jacobs was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas where doctors were unable to save his life.

The wreck was reported outside the Joe Louis Apartment Complex. Officers responded and found a male black inside the vehicle. The lone occupant was found to be unresponsive and was transported to a local medical facility.

During the course of the investigation officers identified several bullet holes in the body of the vehicle. Medical personnel later identified a gunshot wound to his upper body. Approximately three hours later the individual was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.

The deceased has been identified as Port Arthur resident Ronnie Wayne Jacobs, DOB 04/09/1983.

At 11:08 am an individual spoke to detectives in reference to the shooting. This individual has been identified as Isaiah Onasso Jacobs, DOB 09/02/1988. Isaiah Jacobs confessed to the murder of Ronnie Jacobs and was placed into custody.
