BEAUMONT - A north-end Beaumont couple told 12News it sounded like automatic weapons fire as over thirty bullets went flying around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Alkevin Glenn Mire, 28, of Beaumont, was killed and his daughter Lay Mire, 7, who was identified by family, was seriously wounded according to police.
Lay Mire was taken to a Houston-area hospital in serious condition.
Police received the call around 1 a.m. in the 4500 block of Harding Drive in north Beaumont. This is near the intersection with Wilson St.
A person who lives in the neighborhood said it is normally quiet, but they fear this won’t be the final conflict.
A police spokesperson said the investigation is on-going and asked anyone with information to call the Beaumont Police Department at 409-832-1234 or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477).
