75-year-old woman's alleged purse snatcher tracked with 'Find my iPad', arrested by Beaumont Police

BEAUMONT - Technology came in handy for a woman who had her purse snatched Friday morning at a Beaumont hotel.

Bobby Lee Madden, 36, of Jefferson County was arrested by Beaumont Police officers on an aggravated robbery charge and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Center according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Madden ran up behind a 75-year-old woman as she was reaching into her car at the Holliday inn at Walden Road and Interstate 10 just before 11:30 a.m. Friday and pulled her purse from her shoulder police said.

The woman was injured when the purse, containing her iPhone, iPad, and  her wallet with her credit cards, was jerked from her shoulder according to the release.

Madden drove off heading west on Walden Rd in a red pick up the release said.

A family member of the victim was able to track the woman's iPad to the area of Kolander road in Jefferson County and then to the 4500 block of Magnolia in Beaumont according to the release.

Officers were then able to locate the iPad along with Madden and arrest him.

The woman's iPhone, wallet and credit cards were not recoverd according to police.
