An arrest warrant has been issued for 21-year-old Reginald Keith Arion after authorities say he fled from the Jefferson County Courthouse Friday.
Around 9 a.m., Judge John Paul Davis revoked Arion's bond on a theft charge and sentenced him to 90 days in jail.
While paperwork was being filed, deputies say Arion fled from the courtroom, ran through the courthouse and into the parking lot. He was captured near Orleans Street.
When fleeing the courthouse, authorities say they heard commotion from the second floor. Deputies, at the front entrance, then gathered around the bottom of the stairs when they say they heard someone yell "Catch him!"
Deputies say Arion ran down the stairs, spotted authorities waiting for him, and then ran back up the stairs. According to deputies, Arion jumped over a rail and fell 14 feet to the ground below before running out the side door of the courthouse.
We're told Arion broke his ankle from the fall and ran out of his shoes during the foot chase.
He's currently recovering from his injuries at Baptist Hospital. Authorities say his arrest warrant will be issued when he's released.
