Clerk pistol-whipped during Groves convenience store robbery

Police are searching for a robber who pistol-whipped a store clerk in Groves. 

Officers say they received a report of a hold up at the Food-Spot Number Two on Monroe Street around 9 p.m. Sunday. 

Authorities say the clerk was hit over the head with a small silver handgun after the thief demanded cash. 

The clerk suffered what is being described as "severe lacerations" to his head and is being treated for a possible skull fracture.
