City of Beaumont to mull over possible incentives to lure hotel and water park

The Beaumont City Council Tuesday will hold an executive session to discuss development negotiations with a company proposing to build a hotel and water park development at Ford Park.

Pate Development of Wichita, Kansas is working with city and county officials to negotiate an economic development agreement for the proposed development.

According to the agenda for Tuesday's meeting, the city may offer economic development incentives, although the exact nature of those incentives has not been determined.

The Jefferson County Commissioner's court Monday addressed the matter. The Beaumont Enterprise reports that commissioners agreed on tax breaks that would allow for construction of the hotel and water park. The Enterprise says the incentive package will waive hotel-motel taxes for 15 years and Ad Valorem tax for 10 years.
