Chris Brown pleads guilty to assault, tells judge, 'I am very sorry'

By Lindy Royce

(CNN) -- Singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty to simple assault Tuesday in a Washington courtroom as part of a plea deal stemming from a confrontation at a local bar in October.

The judge released Brown for time served and fined him $150.

"I'm sorry, I am very sorry," Brown told the judge in the brief court hearing.

The entertainer has other legal troubles involving separate incidents in California.
