Bond for man charged in Orange County shooting set at $50,000

A man charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting in Orange County Thursday has been arraigned.

A news release issued by the Orange County Sheriff's Office Friday morning says bond for Jason Clark Calvert, 36, of Orange County, was set at $50,000 by Orange County Justice of the Peace Judge David Peck.

Calvert remains in custody at the Orange County Jail.

According to a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office,  Matthew Dourian, 32, of Bridge City, was at Calvert's home located in the 3100 block of Timberlake St. near the Bridge City.  The two men got into an argument.  The spokesperson said Calvert had a rifle in his hand and followed Dourian to a vehicle parked outside.  Dourian was the only person in the vehicle and began to drive away as Calvert fired a single shot through the glass window of the rear passenger door, striking Dourian in the leg.

A witness called 9-1-1.

Dourian got out of the vehicle and lied down on the roadway until first responders arrived.

Dourian was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound at a Beaumont hospital.
