BISD spokesperson files motion for new trial, denied by court

12News has learned that Beaumont Independent School District spokesperson Jessie Haynes has filed a motion for a new trial. The motion was denied.

Haynes was convicted last month of obstructing a public passageway, a class B misdemeanor.  Judge Langston Adams sentenced Haynes to 2 years probation, a $2,000 fine and community service.  She is also required to take anger management courses.  CLICK HERE to read trial coverage.

Haynes' petition claims the verdict was contrary to the law and the evidence and that she was denied effective assistance of counsel.
