BISD investigating incident at middle school campus

Some parents of students at Marshall Middle School told 12News that they received a call from the Beaumont Independent School District about a threat made against the campus.

One parent was told that a teen made the threats on social media. She said the school promised that there would be extra security at the school because of the threat.

12News contacted BISD spokesperson Nakisha Miles who said the district is looking into an incident, but would not comment further until more details were available.

Marshall Principal Dr. Sharon Allen said the school learned earlier this week it was a former student that made the threat but didn't state what type of threat.

In addition to looking for the former student, Dr. Allen says extra security measures have been in place for several days on campus.

She also wants to reassure everyone that security and faculty members will be on high alert at Friday night's dance.
