Beaumont police release video of propane theft, offer reward

Beaumont police detectives have released surveillance images they hope will lead to the arrest of a man responsible for the theft of over 200 filled propane tanks from local stores over a four-week period.

The photos show a man loading several propane tanks into what appears to be a red or maroon four-door vehicle.  The vehicle appears to have damage to the back left quarter panel and previous surveillance video shows it may be, or was missing, a front right hubcap.

The theft that was caught on camera happened Sunday, June 30 at the Caldwood Food Mart located at 55 E. Caldwood.  Previous thefts occurred at various Dollar General Stores, Market Basket Stores, and CVS Stores in Beaumont's south and west ends.

Investigators believe the same man is responsible for all of the thefts.  Anyone who may know the man's identity or who has information about the thefts is ask to call Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 409-833-8477 (TIPS.) Callers will not be asked for their name and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Anyone with information can also give a tip to Crime Stoppers by clicking on the link on the left side of this page.
