A spokesperson for the Beaumont Police Department has identified the victim from Friday's fatal accident as Robert Earl Bienemy, 24, of Beaumont.
Investigators believe road conditions, speed, and failure to use a seatbelt are all factors that contributed to accident.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. Friday in the 4500 block of U.S. 69 South on the Fannett Road overpass. When officers arrived they found Bienemy deceased at the scene. Two other passengers from the vehicle were not injured.
Traffic Unit Investigators believe that Bienemy lost control of his 1995 Chevrolet pick-up truck as he was heading westbound on the overpass. They believe that he may have been going to fast for the weather conditions.
Bienemy's vehicle spun, hit the guardrail, and then came to a rest in the grassy median that separates the westbound and eastbound sides of the highway. Bienemy was not seat-belted and was ejected from the vehicle.
Jefferson County Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Judge Ransom Jones pronounced Bienemy dead at the scene. Judge Jones also ordered and autopsy which will be performed in the coming week.
