Beaumont officers save pit bull left in sun with no water

Officers with Beaumont Animal Services Tuesday were called to Parkdale Mall about a dog in the back of a truck and in distress due to the heat.

Officers say when they got there they found a pit bull suffering from heat exhaustion and showing severe signs that the dog was not going to live much longer if not removed and taken for medical treatment.

The dog, a Male, gray and white pit bull, was found in the back of a Chevrolet truck. It was being kept in a wire pet cage, with no shade or water.

Police say they could not find the owner of the truck while on the scene so the Officers did an emergency seizure and took the dog for medical treatment in order to try and save the dog.

A seizure hearing is set for September 5th at 2 p.m. before Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Nancy Beaulieu.

Beaumont Animal Services notified 12news HD the dog's owner has turned himself into police Wednesday.
