Beaumont ISD implements new limitations on spending

12News has learned that the Beaumont Independent School District Superintendent has implemented new limitations on spending and employee overtime.  The changes were announced by a letter addressed to BISD administrative staff.

Dr. Timothy Chargois said in the letter that a number of changes are being made as part of his recently announced restructuring.

Changes announced in Dr. Chargois' letter include:

  • No overtime will be approved without Dr. Chargois' expressed, written permission.
  • Extra-duty pay will be closely monitored by principals and supervisors.
  • All professional development opportunities and travel that require the processing of expenses have been suspended.
  • A purchasing freeze is in place until further  notice.

The letter announcing these changes was sent to administrators on Friday.
