Beaumont firefighters battle house fire that damages nearby building

Investigators with Beaumont Fire Rescue say a vacant house on Blanchette Street appears to have been intentionally set on fire early Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found a house at 905 Blanchette fully involved in flames.

The fire also spread to the detached garage of a nearby house, also vacant, at 1303 Johns Street. Firefighters were able to control the fire in both buildings within 30 minutes. No one was injured, but both structures were heavily damaged. No utilities were connected in either building.

Investigators say the fire originated in the rear part of the house on Blanchette, and appears to deliberately set. There is no suspect information at this time.
