Beaumont burglary suspect caught after tip to police

A tip to Beaumont police Monday night led to the arrest of a teen who officers say was burglarizing a home.

Around 8 p.m. a dispatcher received a call about a burglary in progress in the 1300 block of Threadneedle Street in south Beaumont. Officers found a broken window behind a home and saw a man, identified by police as Leonard Guillory, 17, climbing inside the house.  They said Guillory saw officers and refused to obey commands and ran.

Officers say they caught Guillory and took him into custody after he climbed a 6' fence.

A second man was already inside the house and ran out the front door. Officers were unable to find him.

Guillory was taken to Jefferson County Jail and booked in for Burglary of a Habitation.  His bond is set at $20,000 on the burglary charge and $250 for evading arrest.

A news release issued by the Beaumont Police Department asks anyone with information to call Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 409-833-8477.
