Astros walk off with another win

HOUSTON -- Chris Carter, who homered twice on Wednesday, continued his hot streak by hitting a walk-off home run to left field in the bottom of the 10th inning on Thursday night to send the Astros to a 5-4 win over the D-backs at Minute Maid Park.

It's the Astros' first walk-off homer since June 20 of last season, when Carlos Pena beat the Brewers in dramatic fashion.

Since May 11 the Astros have improved to 20-11, which is one of the best records in baseball in that span.

The Astros led, 4-3, going to the ninth when closer Chad Qualls saw Miguel Montero hit the first pitch he threw high over the wall in left field for a game-tying homer. That ended Qualls' 17 2/3-inning scoreless streak and snapped his run of seven successful save conversions.
