Port Arthur Animal Services is working to obtain a seizure warrant to seize two horses in Port Acres.
They are near the corner of Mulberry and Center streets in a gated section of land. Neighbors became concerned because of visual signs on the horse that indicate neglect.
The ribs on the animals are easily visible as are their spines and hip bones. Inside the gated area there isn't much of anything for the horses to feed on.
They do have two tubs and a cooler of water that appear to be water collected from recent rains.
Animal Control visited them Tuesday but it wasn't the first time.
"Here lately it's getting to the point where these horses need a little more attention," Animal Control Supervisor Anthony Mitchell said.
The horses also have cuts just above their hooves. Neighbors say the owners do tend to the animals every now and then. But Animal Control says clearly the animals are not getting the attention they deserve.
The owner of the land tells Animal Control he does not own the horses but knows who does. Animal Control is working to identify two owners to complete that seizure warrant.
