Accused former Crystal Beach fire chief turns himself in

A former fire chief accused of stealing from the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department has turned himself in.

Ex-Fire Chief David Miles Loop, 56, turned himself into the Sheriff's Office Tuesday morning.  Loop is facing two indictments for theft and misapplication of fiduciary property.  

Loop was booked in the County Jail, made bond, and was released.

According to 12News file stories, Loop is accused of using $25,000 of the department's money at a Louisiana race track and casino.  He is also accused of misappropriating over $45,000.
