2nd news release from Beaumont PD

*11:21AM   Bartholomew Granger, 41 year old black male from Houston shot 4 people at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1001 Pearl St.

  *12Noon    Granger was taken into custody by Beaumont PD SWAT with the assistance of employees at 1110 Neches St., RCI.

  *Minnie Ray Seabolt a 79 year old white female from Deweyville, Tx was pronounced dead at the Jefferson County Courthouse in front of the main entrance.

*Granger was on trial at Criminal District Court for Aggravated Sexual Assault and two of the shooting victims were witnesses in the case.

* The trial started March 13, 2012 and one of the witnesses, Granger's daughter, had already testified and was scheduled for rebuttal testimony on this date.

*Granger was treated and released and is currently in Jefferson County Jail and charged with 1 count of Murder. His bond on the Aggravated Sexual Assault was revoked.

*Granger's 20 year old daughter is in critical condition. She was shot and run over by Granger's vehicle. The other two victim's were treated at area hospitals and released.  One of the victim's was the mother of the 20 year old daughter and the other was a Hispanic male.

* Seven Beaumont Police Officers and two Jefferson County Deputies engaged Granger with gun fire and are currently on Administrative Leave and are not injured.

During the incident, the employees at 1110 Neches, RCI, were instrumental in taking Granger into custody. Employees were able to take possession of Granger's gun and opened a steel door that officers would have had difficulty breaching.

Jefferson County Courthouse will be closed March 15th.
