The mother of a fallen Beaumont Police Officer remembers her son on the 10th anniversary of his death.
Officer Conrad Gernale was intentionally struck and killed by a driver on September 6th, 2002. Gernale was hit by man who was fleeing the scene of a domestic assault. The driver, Clayton Davis hit Officer Gernale as he was walking to an ambulance where one of the victims was being treated.
Davis also injured three medics after crashing into the ambulance. Gernale was a 12- year veteran with the Beaumont Police Department.
"I was sad. Sad for his family. He has two boys and a girl. The boys were a year old. It was hard. Hard for me and my husband," Officer Gernale's mother, Lily Gernale, said.
Clayton Davis was sentenced to life in prison for killing Officer Gernale. He won't be eligible for parole until in 2033.
