Man suspected of killing his wife found dead

A spokesperson for the Port Arthur Police Department Thursday said a man who is a suspect in the shooting death of his own wife was found dead from an apparent suicide.

Around 9:48 a.m. Thursday officers were called to a house located at 2735 9th Street in reference to a possible suicide.  When officers arrived they found Wallis Mendoza Gervacio, 47, deceased.

Officers said that there was no evidence of foul play and that the deceased had committed suicide.

Port Arthur Police Sgt. Gaspard said Gervacio was the prime suspect in the death of his wife Milka Talavera.  An autopsy on the mother of three indicated her death in May was a homicide.

Gervacio claimed his wife committed suicide.

In May, police responded to a reported suicide at the same house where Gervacio was found dead on Thursday.  Police found Milka Talavera dead in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.

Gervacio told police he called 911 after finding his wife's body.

He broke down in tears when he spoke to 12News shortly after his wife's death.  He said he loved his wife very much, and that he did not kill her. However, investigators said they did not believe he was being truthful.
