Kendrick Perkins to continue career in "G" League

Kendrick Perkins will continue his playing career for the Cavaliers' "G" League affiliate in Canton, two sources confirmed to cleveland.com.

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Kendrick Perkins will continue his playing career for the Cavaliers' "G" League affiliate in Canton, two sources confirmed to cleveland.com.

Perkins, 32, who came to the Cavs' training camp hoping to revive his NBA career by showing teams around the league he was in shape, will play for the Charge rather than retiring and joining Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue's staff.

The Charge open the 2017-18 season Nov. 4 in Greensboro, N.C.

Lue said he'd discussed with Perkins joining his coaching staff if he couldn't catch on elsewhere. Perkins finished the 2014-15 season with the Cavs.

Perkins played 13 seasons in the NBA but was out of the league all of last season. The 6-10, 270-pound Perkins has career averages of 5.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.
