Thieves caught on camera stealing diapers from Beaumont non-profit

"It's saddening because the group does amazing things for the community," says Jimmesha Proctor, who receives help from the non-profit group.

BEAUMONT — Caught in the act, surveillance video shows thieves stealing a trailer full of supplies from a Beaumont non-profit group that works to help the needy.

"It's saddening because the group does amazing things for the community," says Jimmesha Proctor, who receives help from Hope Women's Resource Clinic.

Proctor is one of the many mothers helped with resources for her newborn child, and the diapers given to those like her have disappeared.

It appears to be a group of men seen on surveillance cameras stealing a trailer with merchandise to help struggling parents.

For Jeanette Harvey who is executive director for the clinic, taking away from those less fortunate is a new low.

"It hurts that they would steal from anyone less fortunate than them," Harvey says.

"They are stealing from mom's we won't be able to give diapers too," she says.

Harvey says the non-profit group works hard to help provide a better start for children.

Acts like this are taking away from helping those parents like Proctor.

"They really helped me the last couple of months when I really needed help for my baby," Proctor says.

Harvey says that a trailer was stolen late Monday night, and inside were over $5,000 worth of diapers.

"They just drove in, pulled the trailer and went straight out," she says.

The parking lot is now empty of supplies of what could have gone to help parents in need.

The video is left as evidence hoping someone recognizes the people responsible.

"I'd like to for the community to let this be turned around for good," Proctor says.

The group says you can help with donations by dropping them at the clinic on Laurel in Beaumont.

If you recognize the individuals in the video, you can call CrimeStoppers at 409-833-TIPS

A fundraiser will be held at Tyrrell Park on April 28th to help raise funds from stolen items.
