Star student wows Memorial High School art teacher

Port Arthur — Pastor Richard Nash has been teaching art for almost thirty years. Over time, he's seen many different types of students, but Jenna Khuu stands out above the rest.

Jenna is a sophomore at MHS. She's not only an Honor Roll student, but also an exceptionally gifted and talented Art Student. Her favorite subject is Algebra 2, but she says art is a close second. In her free time, she also enjoys poetry and photography, mostly portraits.

According to Nash, Jenna is extremely intelligent and exemplifies a high level of maturity.

"She maintains the classical design personality of the student who is very respectful, not a problem student, when given the assignment exemplifies a positive attitude towards taking on the assignment and doing her best," said Nash

Jenna tells us she uses aspects of her everyday life as inspiration for her art. She even did a piece inspired by Harvey that Nash is especially proud of.

Jenna self-identifies as quiet, but once you get to know her her true personality comes out. While Jenna makes school a priority, she knows not to take life too seriously. After being involved in a car accident, Jenna realized there's more to life than just school.

Jenna has her sights set on the University of Texas Austin or University of Houston. She hopes to pursue dentistry or architecture.

Keep up the good work Jenna!
