Little Cyprus Mauriceville Receives Grant to Restore Nurse Clinics

Little Cypress-Mauriceville received $35,000 to restore the four nursing clinics destroyed by Tropical Storm Harvey

LITTLE CYPRESS — In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Harvey, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville school district lost nurse's clinics at four out of the districts' campuses.

The storm left two nurse's clinics to service all six schools and left Director of Health Services, Kelly Meadows in need of help.

Once Little Cypress Lions Club president Kim Dickerson heard about the situation, she knew she had to help.

Dickerson reached out to Russell Wheeler, District Governor of District S1 of the Texas Lions for help.

After touring what was left of the clinics, Wheeler proposed a grant to the Lions International Foundation.

The foundation approved $35,000 for the district, making it possible for Meadows to restore, recover, and restock the clinics and provide the best healthcare possible to their students and staff.
