FEMA extends Harvey hotel assistance until end of May

According to FEMA, 576 Jefferson County households are in FEMA-funded hotels. There are 209 Orange County households, and 25 for Hardin County are currently staying temporary housing.

BEAUMONT — This week, Governor Greg Abbott announced that over 4,000 households displaced by Harvey can stay at FEMA funded hotels until may 31st.

According to FEMA, 576 Jefferson County households are in FEMA-funded hotels. There are 209 Orange County households, and 25 for Hardin County that are currently in temporary housing or FEMA-funded hotels.

Robin Mires, a Beaumont mother of two, has been living in FEMA funded hotels since last September. Mires says that the recent announcement from the Governor helps put her family's minds at ease since her home is still being repaired from the storm.

"I'm relieved because it was coming down to less than a week and just the uncertainty of not knowing if we are going to find a place to stay or not," said Mires.
