Head Coach Jeff Matthews says the extra work helps kidsprepare for whenthe real workbegins inAugust with two-a-days.

    Tie down roper Rigby Baker of Vidor has signed a scholarship to attend Trinity Valley CC next season. Baker is getting ready to compete at the state HS rodeo championships in June. She will also compete in barrel racing at Trinity Valley. Baker plans to study equine science with hopes of becoming a physical therapist for horses.

    After missing out on the playoffs the last two seasons, the Vidor Pirates came back with avengence to tie for the District Championship this season. The Pirates lost a coin flip with Nederlandandare the second seed, getting ready to host Kingwood Park Thursday night at 7 PM. Game two by at Kingwood Park Friday night at 7 PM and a third game if needed would be Saturday afternoon at a site to be determined.

    Vidor pitcher Whitney Howerton, who had led the Lady Pirates to a 13-1 record and a District championship, has been named the Wendys 12 Star Athlete of the Week. Howerton has an 18-1 record in the circle with an ERA of just over one run per game and has struck out 137 batters in 108 innings.
