Order for rolling outages canceled after Entergy energizes major transmission line impacted by Hurricane Laura

More than 6,000 workers are still in Southeast Texas working to restore power knocked out by Hurricane Laura.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Some Southeast Texans can relax and know they can keep their homes cool today as Entergy announced Friday morning that the need for rolling blackouts in Southeast Texas is over.

A “major accomplishment” was completed late Thursday at about 10:30 p.m. when a major transmission line was energized according to a release from the company.

Following the repair of the transmission line the grid operator for the region cancelled a request for periodic power outages.

The Sabine Station power plant, in Orange County, did suffer minimal damage and was started back up Friday morning an Entergy spokesperson told 12News.

The re-start of the plant will allow the power company to server additional power load the spokesperson said.
