Southeast Texas schools announcing return to school after Tropical Storm Nicholas cancels classes Tuesday

Most Southeast Texas schools are returning to normal class schedules Wednesday, Sept. 15.

PORT NECHES, Texas — Nicholas, which made landfall early Tuesday morning as a Category 1 hurricane but has since weakened into a tropical storm, brought heavy rains and caused outages to parts of Southeast Texas. As the storm moves along, Southeast Texas school districts are announcing updated school schedules for the rest of the week. 

This list of schools will be updated as we receive the information. 

Schools reopening after Tropical Storm Nicholas

Jefferson County

Beaumont ISD plans to return to all normal classes on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Ehrhart School will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Hamshire-Fannett ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Nederland ISD will return to all normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Port Arthur ISD  will reopen and operate on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Tekoa Academy will reopen and return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Sabine Pass ISD will return to its normal class schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Port Neches-Groves ISD will resume a normal class schedule on Thursday, Sept. 16.

Orange County

Orangefield ISD will return to all normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Tekoa Academy will reopen and return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

West Orang Cove CISD will return to all normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Vidor ISD will return to all normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Bridge City ISD will return to all normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD will return to all normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Hardin County 

Hardin-Jefferson ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Kountze will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Silsbee ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

West Hardin County CISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Jasper County: 

Jasper ISD: Jasper ISD is returning to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Buna ISD  will return to it's normal class schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Newton County

Burkville ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Deweyville ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Newton ISD will return to the normal class schedule Wednesday. Sept. 15.

Liberty County 

Hull-Daisetta ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Anahuac ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Chambers County 

East Chambers ISD will return to normal class schedules on Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Texas State University System

Lamar University expects to reopen it's campus Wednesday, Sept. 15. 

Lamar Institute of Technology will reopen it's campus Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Lamar State College - Orange will reopen it's campus Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Lamar State College Port Arthur will reopen it's campus Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Schools that have not announced scheduled return to normal classes

Jefferson County

Beaumont Classical Academy:

Beaumont Classical Academy will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 14 in caution for tropical Storm Nicholas, which is forecasted to impact the Beaumont area with possible high winds and rains. 

The decision about the school schedule for Wednesday, Sept. 15 and the rest of will be announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School: 

Kelly High School will be closed Tuesday.

All Saints Episcopal School:

All Saints Episcopal School in Beaumont will be closed on Tuesday.
