City of Port Neches providing residents with sandbags in preparation for Hurricane Nicholas

City officials encourage members of the community to follow official weather sites and information from official sources.

PORT NECHES, Texas — Port Neches city officials are preparing for and monitoring weather conditions brought by Hurricane Nicholas.

The City of Port Neches is making sandbags available for residents, that can be picked up at the City Service Center, located at 2001 Merriman Street. Residents can get their sandbags on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m.

City officials encourage members of the community to follow official weather sites and information from official sources. Port Neches residents are also encouraged to drive safe during dangerous weather.

City officials said they are hosting briefings and will attending weather conference calls, so they can prepare for potential impact to the community.

City officials across Southeast Texas are preparing to keep their communities safe ahead of Hurricane Nicholas.

Starting at 10 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 13, the City of Nederland will have free sandbags available for residents at the rear of Doornbos Park, located at 2301 Avenue H, according to a City of Nederland news release. Proof of residency will have to be confirmed by a driver’s license or utility bill, and residents are required to bring a shovel and be prepared to fill their bags.

Port Neches, TX- Officials with the City of Port Neches are currently monitoring weather conditions relating to Tropical Storm Nicholas. city officials are hosting briefings and attending weather conference calls to plan and prepare for any potential impact to our community.

As part of the preparation activities, the City of Port Neches is also making sandbags available to city residents. Sandbag materials may be picked up at the City Service Center located at 2001 Merriman beginning at 10:00 am on Monday September 13, 2021.
