From the American Red Cross...
Over the next week, the Red Cross will transition into recovery, which means we will remain.
Severely impacted households that need immediate assistance can also apply at redcross.org/HHIA.
The American Red Cross relaunched its financial assistance program Thursday, Sept. 21.
As of Sept. 28, the Red Cross has authorized more than $148 million in direct financial assistance to help more than 370,000 Texas households.
Those who have already applied but have not heard from the Red Cross within the 24-hour window do not need to reapply.
The Red Cross is still processing applications and will contact everyone who has applied as soon as possible.
Even as the Red Cross is providing emergency relief, such as food and distribution of supplies, workers begin creating community recovery plans with government officials and local community partners in order to provide individual support to those affected by disasters.
Recovering from a disaster can be a confusing, emotionally draining and complicated process. As the community transitions into recovery, the Red Cross remains committed to helping people impacted by Hurricane Harvey and will continue support those in need.
