Port Arthur case worker shines after Harvey

It's not just Trina Brown who's been outstanding at her job as a state agent case worker. Hundreds of people from Rockport to Orange have stepped up and guided their work case families while keeping their own together at home.

On Tuesday, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services commissioner Hank Whitman visited Port Neches, Texas, to share his message that no lives of any children in the CPS program were lost during Harvey.

Jefferson County judges, law enforcement, and elected officials and representatives set up a distribution POD exclusive to the case workers who needed to both grab items for the families they help protect, and for themselves.

Trina Brown, from Port Arthur, has 17 family members staying in her home after Harvey re-routed their lives. But even though she has a madhouse in her home, she still kept up with her case families. In all, you could say Brown has made sure nearly 200 people are safe during this aftermath.

One of Brown's families went to Lafayette, Louisiana, while another traveled north to Dallas. At times she had to put her own family on the back burner, while making sure her work family was safe and sound after the storm.

Everyone rallied behind commissioner Whitman on Tuesday, as he expressed that "only in Texas do we have law enforcement officers working alongside family and protective services to make sure every single case family is unharmed and getting what they need."
