Gwen Stockton Andrews could not hide her emotions on Sunday. “I couldn’t stop crying like, it’s my ring, it’s my ring!” she said.
Her high school ring making its way back to her after it was lost for over two decades. The gem, was found on top of a roof at a home in Port Arthur Friday.
“The last thing I would expect just to be up there! I was expecting maybe a snake before I would find a ring or something!” said Colton Vela.
Vela was working on the roof as he was cleaning up the damages from Harvey. The shiny white stone caught his attention and showed the discovery to his wife, Stephanie.
“We Googled the school first and realized it was here in Port Arthur cause we actually never heard of it before and from there we were able to find her name.” said Stephanie.
They looked up Andrews on Facebook and messaged her about the ring from Bishop Byrne High School Class of 1978.
Andrews explained she remembered exactly how the ring looked, and even described the dent that it had.
“I started crying because I knew it was my ring!” she said.
Andrews said the ring meant a lot to her and believes the whole thing was a sign from her late mother and that the Vela’s are the angels on earth who helped bring back a piece of history.
“We’re just glad we were able to get it back to her. We figured it was very important to her and this was an easy reunion.” said Stephanie.
