BEAUMONT, Texas — Traffic along westbound Interstate 10 in Beaumont was backed up for several hours following a fatal, single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning.
19-year-old driver Jenna Nicole Stewart, of Orange, was pronounced dead at the scene, Beaumont Police confirmed in a news release.
The fatal wreck happened along the interstate near Washington Blvd around 3:10 a.m., according to Beaumont Police.
Investigators said that a black Lincoln SUV was traveling southbound in the 2200 block of IH-10 when it left the roadway and entered the center median, which then struck the guardrail system.
Police reported just after 8 a.m. that the interstate had been reopened as they continued to investigate the wreck.
At 7:30 a.m. traffic maps had shown that the back-up extended for nearly four miles along westbound IH-10 past the U.S. Highway 69 split.
This investigation is still ongoing, according to the Beaumont Police.

Beaumont Police Investigating Fatality Crash- 2200 block of IH-10 (Southbound)
On Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 3:10 a.m., Beaumont Police respond to single vehicle crash in the 2200 block of IH-10.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a black Lincoln SUV was traveling Southbound in the 2200 block of IH-10 when it left the roadway and entered the center median, striking the guardrail system.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim has been identified as Jenna Nicole Stewart, a 19 year old Orange resident. The investigation is on-going.
